Rashaun Dorrell Woods (born October 17, 1980 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma) is a wide receiver in the NFL who is currently a free agent. He went to Oklahoma State University. He was drafted by the 49ers in the 1st round (31st overall) in the 2004 NFL Draft.

College career

Woods finished his college career at Oklahoma State University with 293 receptions, 4,414 yards and 42 touchdowns - all Big 12 records. He became the eighth player in NCAA Division 1-A annals to gain over 1,000 yards receiving in a season three times in a career. Only Troy Edwards of Louisiana Tech (50, 1996-98), Darius Watts of Marshall University (47, 2000-03), Aaron Turner of the University of the Pacific (43, 1989-92) had more touchdown catches in NCAA history. Only Taylor Stubblefield of Purdue University (316, 2001-2004), Arnold Jackson of Louisville University (300, 1997-2000), Trevor Insley of the University of Nevada (298) and Geoff Noisy of Nevada (295, 1995-98) had more receptions in Division 1-A annals. Only Insley (5,005) and Marcus Harris of the University of Wyoming (4,518, 1993-95) had more yards receiving in a career in NCAA history. Woods also holds the NCAA single-game record for most touchdown receptions in a game (7 against Southern Methodist University in 2003) and most touchdown receptions in a half (5 in the first half of the same SMU game). Rashaun has two brothers that currently play football at Oklahoma State; D'Juan, a senior wide receiver, and Donovan, a junior safety, who previously played quarterback.

NFL career

Woods had 7 catches for 160 yards and 1 touchdown in his rookie season (2004) and spent the 2005 season on injured reserve with torn ligaments in his thumb. In April 2006, he was traded to the San Diego Chargers for cornerback Sammy Davis. In August 2006, he was cut from the San Diego Chargers. On August 3rd 2006 he was claimed off waivers by the Denver Broncos but failed his physical and released. He is currently a free agent.

Scouting Report

Woods has superior hands and pass catching skills. He reacts well to bad balls, has outstanding concentration and body control, and will catch passes at his toes or far beyond his body. A savvy-accomplished route-runner and knows the game like a quarterback, sets up his defender, and finds open spaces on the field. He can beat double teams by making smart moves and splitting defenders. He is strong for his size and can fight off the jam. He isn't powerfully built, lacks explosion off the snap and that extra burst in the open field, not quick or elusive, and has the strength to block but gives a good effort although lacking proper technique.
